Trauma is inherently heavy and the danger is its aftermath can often lead individuals to check out on things they value. As a StandTALL therapist, I view my role to be your ally and cheerleader, helping you to shift from a place of reactivity to one of intention. This realignment can lead to empowerment and personal depth, allowing you to recognize that it is possible to honor YOU and hold the negative, with grace and dignity. This process propels us to StandTALL in our own lives.

I provide treatment to adults and older adolescents. I am active in the therapy room and I expect you to learn and understand how your improvements are related to your therapeutic work so you can complete therapy with confidence.

In addition to StandTALL, I am a Staff Psychologist at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System and an affiliated Clinical Professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine. To date, I have trained hundreds of healthcare professionals. I completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine and a predoctoral clinical internship at Duke University Medical Center. I earned my clinical doctorate degree from the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium.

Most recently, I have completed specialty training with Columbia University’s Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma in working with journalists who are exposed to occupational stress and trauma. I have a strong appreciation for the role of journalism in society. I utilize HIPAA-compliant telehealth software and I have also received training from the Freedom of the Press Foundation on best practices for digital security.

As a StandTALL therapist, I view my role as a guide and support in a client’s journey of healing from trauma (kind of like sherpa!). Trauma takes away power, control, agency, and trust. I approach therapy as a collaboration in which the client regains power and agency to make decisions and determine next steps. It can take time to build trust. Through our work together, I help trauma survivors to find their own power, make peace with past experiences and present emotions, and create meaningful lives. In other words, to StandTALL.

I provide treatment to adults and adolescents. I can work with trauma that has occurred at any point over the lifespan, from childhood to older adulthood. I am trained in child and adolescent psychology and bring a developmental lens to all of my work. I also bring an active presence, playfulness, and mindful breath and movement into therapy. I celebrate all identities and embrace the cultural and spiritual traditions that aid in healing.

In addition to StandTALL, I am a Clinical Professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. I am a certified yoga teacher, trained through yogaX at Stanford and registered with Yoga Alliance. I have authored or co-authored over thirty journal articles and book chapters on the lifespan effects of trauma and related topics and I published a book in 2023 focused on campus sexual and relationship violence. I completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a clinical postdoctoral fellowship and predoctoral internship at Yale University Child Study Center. I earned my clinical doctorate degree from Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine.
